LIBERTINE DREAMS – WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS

For me, the right mood is everything. Often, an idea will hit me while I’m in the middle of doing something that has absolutely nothing to do with writing or creating. I could be at an NFL game, a gentlemen’s club, or shopping at the mall.

I believe it’s always a good idea to jot that idea down right away so that it’s still in its original, fresh form. If I don’t, it begins to fade away.

It’s like a vivid dream that, once you awake, you immediately begin to lose it. It’s like our brain has turned the dream off and is now focusing on the environment. It may be some type of natural, built-in survival mechanism that humans have. I don’t know.

I just know that it’s nice when I get to my mental place, I can sort out my notes and begin copying and transferring them to a fresh file for storage.

However, as what usually happens, as I’m writing my notes, my mind, unlike when trying to go back to sleep to chase that vivid dream, instead, goes back to that creative space where I’d come up with that idea, and it gives me more.

What was only a note or two has now morphed into five or ten pages, and I credit that to my desk, my headphones for music, my candles, my box of charms and whatnots, my Mont Blanc, and my Zulu coconut.

LIBERTINE DREAMS – DEAR EILEEN

To my dear, good friend. You’ve been there along with me as we’ve both gone through thick and thin. I wish every moment of each day that I could be there for you. Wherever you are, I hope with everything in me that you’re doing well.
