PROJECT DAKOTA #1.1

This gorgeous work of art has now been passed down to me.

It is my mother’s, and she hasn’t driven it in over a decade. It has been sitting in the same spot ever since she purchased a new vehicle in 2012.

Unbelievably, those tires are still holding some air. I’d purchased them for her brand new just before the truck began having some mechanical issues. A malfunction of the transmission caused it to drop into limp mode while driving at highway speed. It’s a common problem with Dodge transmissions of this era.

Was I looking for a project? Absolutely not!

Will I take it on because my mother wants me to have it and fix it up? Definitely.

Someone somehow broke the rear passenger window. It could have been a projectile from a lawnmower or maybe some kid throwing rocks. Who knows? I haven’t looked inside yet because it’s filled with wasps and who knows what else.

I’m going to take a slow and precautionary tiptoe around the exterior before opening stuff up. I don’t want to be stung or bitten by black widows. I’m sure other varmints and critters have lived in it at one time or another, too.

This is going to take some time.

Nighttime wasp spraying and knocking down all those nests are next.

Stay tuned.
